This year we decided to send a birthday card to the sisters in our ward from our Relief Society presidency. We decided this in January---I was supposed to make some cards. Yeah---I finally had time to get it done last week.

Wrought Iron Chair
Last summer, Merlynn and I went to this sale (it wasn't really a garage sale). There were a couple of ladies who had found old dressers, nightstands, headboards, etc. They had taken them and refinished them all in that shabby chic white. They were really cool looking. Well, we were looking for chairs to use when taking pictures. We bought two of these wrought-iron chairs. They had some nasty looking yellow vinyl on the seat. So, we bought some cute material and had mom recover the chair. I have one and Merlynn has one. We covered them with material that would work for taking pictures as well as still be functional in a house. Now---we just need to find the table that matches them.

Spot Coloring
Merlynn is having some canvases made to hand up in her family room. She already has one of Ashlynn that I had turned to black and white and then re-colored an orange flower in her hair. She is going to do three more. She wanted me to turn them to black and white and then re-color something in them. It has been a while since I've done this and I had forgotten how precise you have to be---it was a little time consuming and I learned I need a steadier hand.
I'm not sure which one of these is cuter--the clue wall or just the flowers colored.

10 Reasons we Love Megan
I have spent the last several hours today making a book for Megan like Ashlynn's. Ten reasons why she is loved. I think I must be stupid because it still took a long time to make and I already had the book set up as a template. I think it turned out really cute though. Merlynn just ordered it--only cost her $9 because she has a coupon for a free book from Shutterfly. Not bad, huh?

My Birthday
This has nothing to do with creativity. I just have to share this story because it is so funny. I don't think I have laughed so hard in a long time.
We have been learning about idioms in school, and I had a student who was looking through the idiom dictionary the other day---reading some aloud. I heard him say "no spring chicken," so I asked if he knew what that meant. No---well being the great teacher I am---told him to look it up. So, he tells me it means not young any more. Then immediately says, "So Miss Johnson, you're no spring chicken?" I gave him a hard time about calling me old--all the while the rest of the class was listening and joining in. I remember thinking that night---you know it's sinking in because I had been frustrated that they weren't learning.
Well, the kids knew that my birthday was coming up during spring break--thanks to my sister. I have a sign language interpreter in my room this year and they were trying to be sneaky about planning something---so I let them. Well, she totally destroyed my room with balloons and glitter--but I went with it. The few of the boys had picked out a card with this stupid song they sing all the time and signed it---one of them putting "Happy 3 decade." They got the principal to let them sing to me over the intercom---after the entire lunch room full of kids had sung to me. But---the best is the cake (look at the picture below)

They totally came up with the idea all on their own. I have been so stressed the last 6-8 weeks, I really needed this. I laughed all day long. As word got out in the school, we had a lot of visitors come to see the cake and to have their own laugh. It is a wonderful memory and totally kid-driven.

Lucky!!!!
I'm going Visiting Teaching tomorrow, and I haven't taken something for a few months (okay---I didn't even GO visiting teaching last month). I saw this cute tag on eighteen25. http://eighteen25.blogspot.com/2011/02/im-so-lucky.html
I changed the words from "I'm so Lucky to have you" to "I'm so Lucky to know you." I just opened the document in Photoshop, erased the word "have," used the dropper tool to fill in the white space, then inserted the word "know." Simple, but cute.
I have been insanely busy the last several weeks. I have done a few crafty things, but everything has been flying at me so fast, that I didn't get pictures. Things have started to slow down a little but, and I hope to really get caught up during Spring Break....that is after I get all of my extra school work down. So hopefully we will be seeing more fun stuff around here.
