Part 2 Scrapbook room Makeover

So I still have several things to work on in this room but I wanted to post the rest of what I have done of my room. Next to the door idea I am totally loving how my chairs turned out. I wanted to do the chairs in different colors, I picked yellow, green and blue, all of which match the material that my mom used to cover the seats on these chairs. I was afraid that it was going to take me a long time to find the chairs that I liked but a couple of weeks ago we went to Twin and found a new store that restoresThe guy there let us walk around and we found a couple that he hadn't done anything with and got them for $5.00 each. I was pretty excited that we found them that fast and for that price.
furniture. This is the desk finished with the chairs, it turned out really nice.
I then had my mom make me a couple of shelves, this did cause a great debate at our house because I don't like to dust and Steve did not want open shelving. I really wanted these and when he hung them up he said it looked pretty good.
I still have to change out the pictures and frames to match the room but you get the idea. I am going to make some prints and then spray paint a few more frames. I really like how this turned out.

Classroom Birthdays

I finished up my birthday treats for this upcoming year. I've had a hard time trying to come up with something. I ordered these crazy straws from Amazon to use for something last year, but I didn't end up using them. So---I put a package of Kool-Aid with the straw, then dressed it up with some curling ribbon. Now--I just have to make sure the kids don't open the Kool-Aid packet up and just eat the powder---GROSS!!

Scrapbook room makeover

I am finally posting. We have been pretty busy at my house redoing a couple of rooms. It seems like once you start one room it somehow goes to another room. First up was my scrapbook room, when we first moved to this house I thought I was picking the perfect color to paint, but it turned out to be far from the perfect color. Even though it was a nasty color I never redid the paint job, it just stayed until now.
I decided that I wanted to paint the room a dark grey color, these are the samples of the color that I choose from, and that is the ugly color of the room before we painted. I picked the lighter one it is called Evening Hush by Behr. It was pretty dark but it looked a lot better than the green. Next up was redoing the flooring, we pick a vinyl that you just had to cut and lay down, it is pretty dark also. After we were done painting and putting the floor in we did a new desk, all white, and it looks really cool. Then came the part that I am no good at, picking everything else to decorate. Ashley was helping and we decided that we should try and put a door in it but, not sure how to work it. We went to Utah for some shopping and found this material for the colors of the room.
So first thing we did was find my yellow door that I did for grandma's 90th Birthday, I put it in the room and then looked around for things that would work with it.
I took the crates out of my bathroom and added the basket that I had around my house. My mom made the lining from the material. It turned out pretty cute. I am still looking for that perfect thing for the top of it but for now it is working.
