Ribbon Table Runner

I loved this table runner I found on someones blog at Halloween. I decided to try my hand at it and make one. It wasn't hard but a little time consuming. I will enjoy it for Valentine's this year.

Mini Calendars

Well, it's been a while, huh? I just can't seem to find time to do much of anything lately. I decided I need to get some stuff done, so it could get out of my brain and let me think better. (Crazy, huh!!)
This little project has been half finished since about New Year's day. I saw this cute idea of these little calendars (which would have made a cute, easy Christmas gift, if I had seen it much sooner). Anyway, I downloaded the calendars from somewhere and then I looked through my digital stuff and found an embellishment that would go with that month. Then I printed them out. Finally, I backed them with some cardstock to make them standout. I put it on a piece of magnet board that I had sitting on my counter. Now I have a cute calendar.

Edited: I downloaded the calendars from here: http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/digitalstamps/ig/2011-Digital-Stamp-Calendar-/

Then I opened them in Photoshop, erased the month and used my own font--colored it and then added the digital image. I made it so I could fit four on a page.

I have been seeing these candy bars around the Internet for awhile and really think they are cute. Megan's birthday was last week so I thought it would be fun to try one. It turned out pretty cute, the only problem was not that many people came and so we had a lot of candy left.

Because I didn't have very many jars I added the It's My Birthday board and also her picture. The hardest part of this was finding enough containers. Also I ran out of time, I should have put labels on each of them.

She liked this and her cake was the cupcakes which was different but fun.

Project Life

This year I am going to attempt Project Life. I am a little nervous about it because at times it seems like I will never be able to keep up. I am going to try and have my family help out but we will see how that goes. One goal that I need to keep in mind that this is about the family not just my kids. Posted below are two pictures that I have taken for the book.

During this particular week Ashlynn seemed to be really into climbing on things. She has climbed up into her closet and is waiting for me to get her down. In order to get up there she had to climb on the drawer of one of the Rubbermaid containers that holds her toys and then literally pull herself up.

Last Saturday we needed to clean our house. I set the timer for one hour and each of the girls help me clean so that we could beat the timer. It was actually a lot of fun and if you ask Megan she did more work than I did. I took this picture because I am trying to take pictures of things other than just events or people.

Hopefully in a year I can look back and see that I was successful at keeping this book up.

Candy Jar

Today is Megan's birthday and I needed a gift for her. I bought some piano music, but I didn't think that was too fun. Whenever she brings candy to school in her lunch, I check it out to see if I want any of it. For a while she had peanut butter M & M's and I would try to get her to give them to me. So, I thought it would be fun to give her a bunch of peanut butter M&M's in a jar with her name on it. I think it turned out okay. I used my chalkboard vinyl for the label and then I used pink vinyl for the wording.

January PTO

To start off with let me tell you that paper piecing is way over rated. I don't know where Ashley found these but they are a Snowman made out of tic tacs. The pictures was really cute but I couldn't get them to look the same (Steve told me they looked like a ghost snowman)so this is what I (we) came up with. I think they turned out pretty cute, Ashley was not as convinced. I told her next time they just get the box of tic tacs, or she could do the next months project.

American Revolution

Well, it's been a few weeks since I have posted (or anyone else!) There is nothing like being thrown back into school just when your mind starts getting used to not thinking about it. And boy, was I thrown back into things. We are wrapping up our study on the American Revolution that we started in my class about 3 months ago. As a celebration (I guess you can call it that---not what I'm thinking at the moment though)---the entire 5th grade puts on a play about the Revolution. Every students has a part (about 75) and they all wear costumes---and we put this on in a week. So, for the past two weeks, my mind has been racing and trying to be as prepared as possible. We have handed out parts and starting on Tuesday we will be practicing every day. On Thursday afternoon we do a dress rehearsal and Friday we do it for parents. It is a quick---and very stressful week. But, it is one of my very favorite things we do all year. So, we have been preparing. My mom has made many, many costumes and each year we add a few--so we've been figuring that out. Then, I have props that need to get ready and yesterday I hauled my dad over to the school to put the scenery up. (yeah---don't ask why the other two teachers aren't doing anything!) I am really stressed and worried about it, but it will turn out okay....and the kids LOVE it...so that makes it worth it.
These are some props I've been working on today.

This is a glimpse into the costumes we have. A LOT of WORK!!

I just want to prove to everyone that I've haven't been being lazy (well, maybe a little of that). I might post some more pictures of the actual event, though I don't want to bore you with it all, but it's so much work and ends up so good, that I might have to brag about it.

LOVE sign

I have had this sitting on my counter to do since August! When Merlynn & I were in Idaho Falls in August we went to Robert's and saw this cute sign and thought it would be really easy to make. I really like how it turned out. I love the pink and red combination. I'm always ready for a change in colors every few months, so this is just bright enough to bring a smile to my face.

It is four 4 inch square boards that are glued onto a bigger board and then vinyl letters.\

A Whole Lot of Glitter!

Another set of cute letters and snowflakes. I actually have them sitting together in my window at school and they are so cute. Completely covered in glitter (not my usual)---but they are CUTE!!!
